Have you ever wondered how those barcode numbers magically appear on products? Barcodes are visual representations of numbers and strings that hold valuable information about a product. They are everywhere – in stores, warehouses, and more. Now, you can create barcodes in Google Sheets with just a few steps.

Step 1: Download Barcode Fonts

Google Sheets offers three barcode font families:

  1. Libre Barcode 39 for Code 39 barcodes. These barcodes are commonly used for identification badges, inventories, and applications.
  2. Libre Barcode 128 for Code 128 barcodes. These barcodes are widely used in the packaging and transportation industry.
  3. Libre Barcode EAN13 for EAN barcodes. These barcodes are commonly used in the retail industry.

To add these fonts to your Google Sheets, simply go to the font menu on your toolbar and click on “More Fonts”. In the font window, search for “Libre Barcode”. Select all the Libre Barcode fonts (39, 39 extended, text 39, text extended 39, 128, and EAN13) and click OK.

Step 2: Format Values as Barcodes in Google Sheets

Select the number you want to convert into a barcode and apply one of the downloaded Libre Barcode fonts.

Note: To use Code 39, surround your number with asterisks (*). You can easily do this with a simple formula. However, Code 128 and EAN13 do not require any modifications. The number can be directly formatted as a barcode.
