Delete Duplicate Rows in Google Sheets
1. Select the Entire Data
To select all the data in your sheet, click and hold the click in the top-left cell, then drag the mouse to cover the entire data range.
An alternative selection method is to click anywhere within the data range, then press CTRL + A for PC and ⌘ + A for MAC to select the entire data range.
2. In the toolbar, select: Data > Data Cleanup > Remove Duplicates
Go to the toolbar and click on “Data”. In the dropdown menu, select “Data Cleanup” and in this submenu, click on “Remove Duplicates”.
3. In the “Remove Duplicates” menu, click on the column headers to remove them
Before removing duplicates, a window will appear asking if your data set contains a header. It is advised to check this option, as leaving it unchecked would result in the removal of duplicate column headers as well as data.
When you check this option, the names of the data headers will appear in the analysis. Click on the “Remove Duplicates” button to activate the function.
4. Click on the context window
The duplicate rows have been removed and a notification will appear indicating how many have been removed and how many remain.
Step 5: Duplicate Data Removed
The duplicate data rows have been removed and the spreadsheet now contains only unique fields.
