Are you struggling to add a full-size cover page in Google Docs? Well, you’ve come to the right place! We’ve all been there – you’re using Google Docs to create an ebook or a downloadable PDF, and you want to add a beautiful cover page without any margins, so it doesn’t look like a plain Word document. And let’s be honest, as a savvy business owner, you know that making it visually appealing will attract more downloads. But when you add the cover image to the first page of your Google document, there’s an annoying margin around it, giving your ebook/PDF an amateurish look.

You want the cover image to fit the entire page seamlessly. Don’t worry, we have the solution for you. Read on to discover our step-by-step guide!

1. Create your cover image

First things first, choose your favorite image editing tool to create your cover image. We personally use Adobe Spark (this is an affiliate link) or Canva (this is an affiliate link). Use whichever program you’re comfortable with to design your stunning cover image.

2. Save your cover image

Save your cover image in either PNG or JPG format.

3. Insert a blank page in your Google document

Now, you need to create a page where you’ll add your cover image. If you don’t already have a blank first page in your Google document, it’s time to create one:

  • Go to the top of your document.
  • In Google Docs, in your top toolbar, select Insert -> Break -> Page Break.

Voila! You now have a blank first page, and you’re ready to proceed to the next step.

4. Insert the cover image into the header of your Google document

Follow these simple steps to insert your cover image into the header:

  • In Google Docs, in your top toolbar, select Insert -> Headers & Footers -> Header.
  • Check the box that says “Different first page header/footer”.
  • Select “Insert”, then “Image”, and choose your cover image.

5. Remove the margin

Now, let’s get rid of that annoying margin and make your cover image full-size:

  • Click on your image, and in the sidebar menu, select “Wrap text”.
  • Change the margin to 0 mm.
  • Enlarge your image to cover the entire page.

And voila! You now have a stunning, professional-looking cover page without any margins in your Google Docs document. Enjoy the beauty of your content!
