Are you struggling to save an image from Google Sheets? Look no further! In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to easily save images from your Google Sheets. Whether you’re storing logos, graphs, or product photos, Google Sheets offers the flexibility to store images alongside your text and numbers. So, let’s dive in and discover the best ways to download those images!

Saving Floating Images on Cells

The easiest images to save are the ones that float above the cells. You can easily identify them as they can be moved independently of the cells. Here’s how to save them:

Step 1

Select the image you want to save, hold down the SHIFT key on your keyboard, and right-click on the image.

Step 2

This will bring up the usual context menu of your browser. Choose the “Save Image As…” option or any other similar option to save an image from the internet.

Step 3

If necessary, choose a name and location to save the image. Otherwise, the image will be saved in your browser’s default download location based on your preferences.

Saving Images within Cells

The method mentioned above doesn’t work for images stored within cells. However, it’s easy to place these images above the cells so that the previous method works for them too. Here’s how to do it:

Step 1

Right-click on the image (this time, don’t hold down the Shift key) and hover over the “Image” submenu, then choose “Move Image to Cells.”

Step 2

The image will be placed above the cells and can be saved using the method for floating images mentioned earlier.

Step 3

Note that depending on the size of the original image, it may become very large when placed above the cells. If you intend to leave it above the cells, you can resize it by adjusting the blue handles at the corners of the selected image. Otherwise, press CTRL+Z on your keyboard to undo.

Saving Images with the IMAGE() Formula

The last type of images in Google Sheets is the ones added to the spreadsheet using the IMAGE() function. Downloading these images is a breeze because the formula itself contains the image’s URL. To download these images, follow these steps:

Step 1

Select the cell containing the image and look at the formula in the formula bar. You should see the IMAGE() function with a URL enclosed in quotation marks.

Step 2

Copy the URL and paste it into the address bar of your browser.

Step 3

Once the image loads, right-click on it and save it.
